The Louisiana Travel Association presented Jeff and Laura Atkinson, owners of the Bed and Breakfast and art gallery Bienvenue Mon Ami à Amite, as the winner of Bed and Breakfast of the Year 2022 at its annual meeting in Alexandria.

The LTA presented 19 Louey Awards to honor and highlight individuals and organizations that have made outstanding contributions to Louisiana’s tourism industry. Three accommodation awards were given out to recognize large hotels, small hotels/inns and bed and breakfasts.

“We never imagined we had a chance to be the first multi-year winner of the Louey Award B&B Accommodation of the Year,” the Atkinsons said in a statement. “Tangi Tourism recognized our potential and named us based on the B&B’s ever-increasing promotions and contributions to communities and tourism in Louisiana. We are thrilled that the Louisiana Travel Association judging committee for this statewide competition accepted and awarded us the Louey again in 2022.”

“We look forward to continuing our partnership with governing bodies, disaster recovery teams, artisans, performing arts, educational groups and businesses to showcase our excellent Louisiana cuisine, culture and landscape to the world” , they added.

The LTA announcer brought the B&B winners to the stage saying, “Well-traveled owners, Jeff and Laura Atkinson, have combined the ultimate collection of B&B concepts to deliver an incredible guest experience in Tangipahoa Parish. Guests from all over the world – and many nearby – have enjoyed the personalized concierge services and unparalleled hospitality.

Located in Amite, the bed and breakfast estate features antebellum and Acadian styles on 30 acres with wooded hills and long-view fairways.

The owners recognize the need for key partnerships when marketing off-the-beaten-path accommodation and have established golf, art and theater collaborations while also working with their local CVB.
