First NFT Islamic Charity Art Gallery opens December 26 in Chicago

Artists Ruby jaffrey, Shayma Al Shiri, Qasim Arif and Mustafa horton each has contributed three original works of art ranging from Arabic calligraphy to calligraphy-themed art, abstract realism, and abstract art. Each artist minted non-fungible tokens for their works at the popular NFT OpenSea Marketplace and donated all royalties to Baitulmaal, the charity behind the art project.

Visitors to the art gallery can bid on digital art prints and a portion of the auction proceeds will also be donated to Baitulmaal.

“We wanted to start a project that supports the creative community while also benefiting people in need around the world,” said John janney, communications director of Baitulmaal and chief curator of the Giving is Beautiful initiative. “With art as a vehicle, donors can enjoy the beauty of their contributions on their walls, in their digital collections and in their hearts. ”

Two other pieces will be presented during the convention. One is an immersive video art installation by the videographer Chance Issa which features footage from humanitarian aid deliveries funded by Baitulmaal donors as well as clips from popular social influencers like Khaled Beydoun and Linda sarsour talk about how they engage with beauty in the world and how they promote inner beauty through donations and other charitable acts.

The other piece of art is an interactive art installation featuring a bespoke vending machine that offers charity opportunities in lieu of snacks and soda. Visitors can choose from 30 different donation options, such as winter relief support, access to water, orphan support or education. Artist and graphic designer Baitulmaal Mustafa horton designed the colorful mosaic themed art that covers the interior and exterior of the vending machine.
