Guests arrive through an entrance inspired by an old local folk tale with a flowing, curved wall adorned with infinity mirrors and handmade Portuguese ceramic plates by Vista Alegre, a Portuguese porcelain craft company which has existed for almost 200 years. Designed in ethereal greens and blues and arranged in an abstract form, a mystical underwater feel is created as soon as guests walk through the doors.
The theme continues in the energetic W Lounge which features a mesmerizing wave centerpiece installation made of glass panels, drawing inspiration from Moorish jewels and ocean bubbles. With one side of the W lounge opening onto the terrace, the space is flooded with bright, natural light, creating an indoor-outdoor feel. The glamorous bar, decorated with custom-made Moorish-inspired tiles, features spectacular hand-blown glass pendants, all highlighted by a 20-meter-long onyx counter that stretches from the indoor bar to the outdoor terrace.
The rooms all embrace a clean maximalism. Opposites attract as natural hues and materials blend with colors. Bespoke furnishings and intricate local touches are dotted including filigree bedside lanterns, dramatic backlit headboards designed in a nod to nearby churches, mosaics crafted from authentic Algarve ceramic tiles and a crochet pattern that adorns the glass panel separating the bathroom from the bedroom, reflecting off the bedroom floor as light shines through. All rooms have a balcony with stunning views of the gardens and the Atlantic coast.
The 10 WOW suites have rooftop terraces with endless coastal views. The Extreme WOW sequel is inspired by the Moura Encantadas, the supernatural beings of Portuguese and Galician folklore. It will provide a relaxed, rustic feel through the wooden parquet flooring, floor-to-ceiling tile detailing, and louvered patio doors that open to the light fountain garden, flooding the space with light. A common tiled table in the center of the restaurant and benches will complete the friendly atmosphere created by this space.
