Capcom celebrated Mega Man’s 30th birthday in a livestream this week. After announcing that this would be an event fans wouldn’t want to miss, the publisher shared several announcements, the most significant of which was the reveal of a brand new game, Mega Man 11.
There aren’t many details at this point, but we do know that Mega Man 11 is coming out on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. It is due out in 2018 and is directed by Koji Oda, with Kazuhiro Tsuchiya on board as a producer. We got a quick overview of the gameplay in a video – check it out above.
Like its predecessors, Mega Man 11 is still a 2D side-scrolling action platform. During the broadcast, the developers said that the overarching goal of development is to “resurrect” Mega Man. Basically, it looks a lot like previous Mega Man games, although it features a noticeably different art style. One key visual difference is that Mega Man’s appearance will change upon acquiring a new weapon – not just its color.
