Arriving on all major consoles of the time, including PlayStation 2, Xbox, and then GameCube a year later, the game garnered praise from critics and fans alike. What was most impressive for many was Mortal Kombat: Deceptionart style, which was unique at the time, not only from other games but from Mortal combat slices of the past. His roster of 27 characters also included more moves and more deaths than previous games, pushing the boundaries of the Mortal combat series.
