Breathtaking 4×4 Overlander Features Vintage Color Palette Of Iconic Chinook Motorhome
PITTSBURGH, November 3, 2021 – PPG (NYSE: PPG) today shared the developed colors for the Toyota “Tacozilla” 4×4 overlander concept vehicle at the 2021 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas. The vehicle features the combined styling and color development expertise of the company’s OEM coatings and automotive refinishing businesses.
A reinvention of the iconic Toyota Chinook motorhome from the 1970s and 1980s, Tacozilla can be seen through Friday, November 5 in the Toyota exhibit (Central Hall, booth 24800) at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Tacozilla is an off-road-ready Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport featuring a fully insulated “micro-house” that can comfortably accommodate two people for on- and off-road adventures. The vehicle offers an array of modern conveniences – a full bathroom with a hot-water shower, a flat-screen TV, a kitchen with a fridge, stove and sink, and a 3D printed dining table that transforms into a work of art. backlit wall art – to one of the most innovative motorhomes ever produced. The Chinook was introduced by Toyota in 1972 as a fuel efficient alternative to conventional motorhomes.
Representatives from PPG’s automotive supplier and automotive refinishing companies worked with Toyota Motorsports Garage to select the vehicle’s white basecoat and vintage yellow, orange and bronze accents. Complete Customs in McKinney, Texas applied all three PPG colors with the support of PPG English Color and Supply distributor in Richardson, Texas.
