There is family fun at the Benalla Art Gallery during the summer school holidays with a diverse program of children’s workshops announced.
Director Eric Nash said the gallery is providing an important service to the community.
“At the Benalla Art Gallery, we are proud to offer something to everyone in the community, and one of the most important services we offer is a dynamic range of activities to brighten the lives of young families from Benalla, ”he said.
Workshops will take place in the second and third weeks of January, and activities range from cyanotype printmaking with local artist Maggie Hollins to an outdoor stenciling and painting street art activity (outdoors). air) on the shores of Lake Benalla.
A highlight of the holiday program is the staging of the National Gallery of Victoria’s annual Kids on Tour program on Thursday, January 20, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The free program, developed by the NGV, is a series of independent and self-directed artistic activities for children, adolescents and families.
This year’s theme is “Art for the Whole Family” and the activities and games are designed to be done together or individually.
Children can discover noisy birds and collect “maypal” (seashells) from Arnhem Land.
Teens can “style a look” or learn about night photography using a smartphone. Or there is paper jewelry to make with images of gold, diamonds and pearls.
NGV Kids on Tour coincides with the NGV Kids Summer Festival, which runs from January 15 to 23.
