Bethesda Game Studios unveils over a dozen concept art for Starfield, teasing a variety of locations to explore in the upcoming sci-fi RPG.
Known for creating diverse and immersive worlds, developer Bethesda Game Studios seems to be no exception for Starfield, as the studio publisher recently shared over a dozen concept art for the upcoming sci-fi RPG.
Publisher Bethesda Softworks unveiled a total of thirteen pieces of Starfield concept art during the Skyrim Live 10th anniversary celebration and fan concert, teasing a variety of alien landscapes, futuristic cities and spaceships. On the orchestral tune of ‘Starfield Suite ‘performed by composer Inon Zur, concept art spans everything from dense jungles and vast deserts to sprawling cityscapes and seedy lanes, with slight animation adding a sense of grandeur to imaginative imagery.
While most of the concept artwork featured in the presentation is new, several pieces have already made appearances in StarfieldThe trailer for “Settled Systems”, where Design Director Emil Pagliarulo gave fans a taste of the game’s storyline and the different factions that appear in it. Located in the year 2330, Starfield takes place in an area of the Milky Way called The Settled Systems. The game is set 20 years after the two largest factions, the United Colonies and the Freestar Collective, settled into “precarious peace” after the “bloody colonial war”.
Meanwhile, players control a character from a faction of explorers called “Constellation”, who ventures into “the deepest reaches of colonized systems” to uncover the “mysteries of the galaxy”. Along the way, players will more than likely encounter members of the two main factions as well as smaller groups such as mercenaries, pirates, spacers, and fanatic religious fanatics. Further details remain scarce for the moment, the gameplay has not yet been officially unveiled.
Starfield Todd Howard, game director and longtime Bethesda executive, explained the size of the game’s story, revealing that its script contains over 150,000 lines of dialogue recorded by over 300 voice actors. As suchtar field far exceeds scripts for Fallout 4 and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, which contained 111,000 and 60,000 recorded dialogue lines, respectively.
Developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks, Starfield will launch on Xbox Series X | S and PC on November 11, 2022. The game will be available to Xbox Game Pass subscribers on the same day.
