At Disney’s D23 Expo this weekend, Lucasfilm showcased some of the director’s stunning costumes and concept art. James Mangold and Harrison Fordit is Indiana Jones 5! I was ridiculously excited about his movie, and thanks to this concept art, we have a little more insight into what we can expect from the film. Judging by the pictures, it looks like this new story will be set in Thailand.
We even get a glimpse of the famous archaeologist looking for some kind of artifact, but I have no idea what it could be. It’s still a great visual! Looks like Jones is about to find himself on another crazy adventure! We also see the suit that Mads Mikkelsen will wear, which sounds very familiar.
Producer Frank Marshall previously announced the next chapter in the archaeological adventure franchise saying, “It’s a great story, it’s a great character, and I think you’re going to be very happy with this movie. That’s all I think everyone wants an Indiana the Jones movie.”
The film is said to be set in the 60s during the space race, which has apparently been confirmed by set photos which surfaced. These photos show a large ticker tape parade with red, white and blue prop signs reading “Welcome to Earth” and “Welcome, Astronauts.”
The film also filmed scenes at the ‘haunted’ Bamburgh Castle, which has people speculating this film will include a scrap last crusade storyline that saw Indiana Jones battling a ghost while on vacation. You can read more about it here.
Steven Spielberg is producing the film and the cast also includes Antonio Banderas, Phoebe Waller Bridge, Boyd Holbrookand Shaunette Renee Wilson.
Indiana Jones 5 is set to hit the big screen on June 30, 2023.
